Out of Hours
Enhanced Access
We offer extended hours surgeries on one Saturday morning per month. These sessions include some nurse-led chronic disease clinics, healthchecks, contraception appointments and Minor Ops as well as some standard GP surgeries.
We also offer extended hours telephone consultations with GPs, between 7:00am – 8:00am on Mondays and Fridays. These appointments are pre-bookable only.
Early morning blood test appointments, between 7:30am - 8:00am, are also available. These must be pre-booked. (When attending these appointments, patients access the building via the Ambulance Bay emergency door, to the left hand side of the building).
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself - for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it's not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
About Us
Shirehampton Group Practice serves an area in north-west Bristol, bounded by the River Avon and the M5 comprising Shirehampton, Avonmouth, Lawrence Weston, Sea Mills and parts of Coombe Dingle, Stoke Bishop and Henbury.
Dr Ellis opened a surgery in 1936. He was followed by other doctors, including Dr Archer Sr, Dr Andrews, Dr Bush, Dr Taylor and Dr Mortensen. The practice moved from Tregenna House on the High Street when the first Health Centre opened in 1984. Today’s spacious, purpose-built health centre opened in December 2007.
